Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know when it’s time to see a professional?
The details leading up to each person’s decision to come to therapy may vary. If you’re beginning to feel like it’s difficult for you to cope with your challenges on your own, it may be time to consider a professional. You are able to submit an inquiry online with no commitment to starting services with us. If you’re searching for help with your mental health or behavioral health needs, reaching out is half of the battle.
What will my experience be in therapy?
Your experience may be different from another person’s. Generally, during your first session, your therapist will ask questions aimed at gathering information about your history and goals for treatment. Your therapist will work with you according to your comfort level to design a treatment plan for you. You will have the ability to tell your therapist if a topic of conversation makes you uncomfortable, in fact, we encourage it! Moving forward, frequency and content of sessions will be adjusted according to your preference.
How long will therapy take?
The duration of your sessions will depend on your progress in treatment. Unfortunately. It is difficult to give a specific number of sessions that will resolve a person’s challenges. Progress will be determined by your report, changes in your quality of life and sometimes assessments. In some cases, you or people close to you may notice change before you do. We encourage you to celebrate small achievements and take notice of the changes with them!
Do I need a referral to be seen?
The short answer is no. We accept new inquiries both through professional and self-referral. Self-referral means that you are able to call or email the office on your own and schedule an appointment. Professional referral means that your doctor, case manager or other provider can submit an inquiry to our office on your behalf.

Is everything I say kept private?

Yes. Information shared in session is kept private between you and your therapist. There is some information that cannot be kept private by law, however, there are guidelines regarding this. These guidelines will be outlined for you before you start therapy sessions. If you have more details about this policy, please ask during your initial inquiry and we will be happy to provide the information to you.
